A Mingled Experience
The prose -- "A Mingled Experience"
Yes, I being a resident of Uttarpara, Hooghly district, kept
on thinking, “Now I'm going to ride the metro...”
It was as if I was taken to a new world of novelty. At first,
walking to the Chandni Chawk metro station with all the chums, with Gopali
Ma'am and with Aishwarya Ma'am, then climbing down the stairs to that blast
furnace like platform even in winter, thereafter punching those blue
round-shaped tickets, and at last, the final moment to ride that bullet-fast
train gave me a lifetime opportunity to enjoy everything to my heart's content.
After getting into the vehicle, I was quite embarrassed that
there were not many differences between this new kind of train travelling under
the ground and the local Howrah-bound ones.
Some time later, Gopali Ma'am asked, “Is it really your first
ride by a metro?” Giving a nod, I shared my experience with her.
Thereafter, I myself recalled of the specialities of the train
while speaking to one of my mates, “One is that it is an air-conditioning transport, and the other is that there is no provision for anyone to lean outside
the door.”
Coming back home, when asked by Mom, I expressed, “It was a
mingled experience both of amazement and of tedium.” She replied gladly,
“Nothing is completely amazing, nor is anything totally boring. Therefore, if
you try to be optimistic in life, you'll find the novelty everywhere.”
