Robinson Crusoe -- "Awaiting the Spiritual Revival"

The last book that I went through was Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. Broadly speaking, this novel is not merely an adventure story of Robinson Crusoe, the protagonist, but even a spiritual autobiography. Apart from that, the book contains manifold meanings if we make its multi-dimensional study. From a daredevil vagabond, an uncontrollable bohemian, Crusoe expanded his colony in the uninhabited island after the shipwreck; he utilized nature, not like the Romanticists but as a colonist. However, later on, he had his spiritual elevation in the island, because he came to realize his disobedience to his father’s advice in seafaring, and so he did rue over the matter. He perceived that his defiance to father was like Adam’s and Eve’s noncompliance to God. He commenced to believe that his father was the Godlike figure in the family setup. Actually, we must note that until and unless self-transformation, like Crusoe, is embraced, none can have a spiritual awakening, and this arousing is required everywhere, every time, especially nowadays, when corruption has preyed upon human life and mind with its fatal tongue. Hence, we do need a spiritual revival like Crusoe and that must be done ourselves without anything being imposed upon us.
