It was the Time of our Lives...

The feature -- "It was the Time of our Lives..."

The prolonged wait for the trip to Goa with all the friends ultimately and fortunately came to an end.

While we were heading towards Mumbai by the Duronto Express, we met a cute girl with grey eyes named Ananya, who was indeed too little to speak, but her gestures did express all her feelings, from greeting to bidding farewell.

In the train, we were catered with plenty of foods. In this regard, it must be said that in the chicken curry, the meat was so stiff that we could hardly tear them. To mention one of the funniest incidents, Swapan Sir said in the evening, “That tomato soup during daytime tasted pretty awful. It had no smell, no taste…” Thinking for a while, Aishwarya Ma’am asked him, “Sir, did you mix the butter, salt and pepper?” and this was responded with a “no”.

In Mumbai, we were greeted by the spiritual ambiance of the Haji Ali Dargah, the fun-filled Juhu Beach and the ever interesting Gateway of India. We walked upon the rocky ways to the Haji Ali with bare feet. Actually, what happened was that we had to leave our shoes inside the cars in fear that they would be stolen. Suddenly, we discovered that all persons except ourselves wore their shoes.

In the flight to Goa, Sounita, Barnali and I kept on prattling, holding one another’s hand in order to avoid nausea.

The bus of the Majorda Beach Resort took us there and simultaneously gave all an opportunity to be in the lap of nature. After reaching the place at 4.30 pm, we felt lucky enough that the buffet was not closed.

The next day, since early morning, the boring series of lectures started and that genuinely made us yawn at times. Sadly enough, it ended at 5.30 pm.

Still, we must admit, the food delicacies really tantalized our tongues. The taste of the chocolate-chip pastries, Peri Peri and Om Ali lingers in our mouths even now.

Due to the extensive seminar, we could not find enough time to enjoy as per our own will. Yet, the memories of our visit to the beach adjacent to the resort, our endless laughing in the marine water, the rolling ripples and the setting sun turning vermillion in the sky are unforgettable.

Moreover, who doesn't remember the stinging of the mosquitoes at late night while chatting with one another endlessly?

While we were departing, mixed feelings engulfed us. We felt soothing when Moumita Ma'am said, “Guys, you’ll be taken to the Basilica of Bom Jesus. So, get ready as quickly as possible.”

The late 15th century masonry along with its tranquil atmosphere seemed wonderful to us as we were entering a world full of pure bliss.

Finally, that moment arrived... It was our time to be off from Goa, then from Mumbai. “Goodbye, Goa! It’s time to fly back to the home city.” Even now, sometimes our hearts utter silently,

Golden memory flashes by,
With few teardrops in each eye.”
